Bojidara Kouzmanova is a Bulgarian-born classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist, chamber musician, and educator. Born on May 5, 1983, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Kouzmanova began playing the violin at the age of five. She showed exceptional talent and was soon accepted into the National School of Music in Sofia, where she studied with some of the country's most renowned violin teachers. Kouzmanova's talent and dedication to her craft led her to pursue further studies abroad. In 2001, she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied with renowned violinist György Pauk. She later went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she studied with violinist Midori Goto. Kouzmanova's career as a professional musician began in earnest in 2006 when she won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Citta di Brescia" in Italy. This win helped to launch her career and led to numerous performance opportunities around the world. She has since performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to her work as a soloist, Kouzmanova is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Borromeo String Quartet, the Emerson String Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. She is also a founding member of the Kouzmanova-Stoyanova Duo, a violin-piano duo that has performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States. Kouzmanova's dedication to music education is also an important part of her career. She has served as a faculty member at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the University of Southern California. She is currently a professor of violin at the University of North Texas College of Music. Throughout her career, Kouzmanova has received numerous awards and accolades for her work as a musician. In addition to her win at the International Violin Competition "Citta di Brescia," she has also won first prize at the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Italy and the International Violin Competition "Sion Valais" in Switzerland. She has also been awarded the prestigious "Young Artist of the Year" award by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture.
