Ensemble F is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2003 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in Paris, France, and is known for its innovative and dynamic performances of classical and contemporary music. The founding members of Ensemble F were violinist Arnaud Thorette, cellist Alexis Descharmes, and pianist Romain Descharmes. All three musicians had studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and had already established themselves as talented performers in their own right. From the beginning, Ensemble F set out to explore the rich and diverse repertoire of chamber music, from the classical works of Mozart and Beethoven to the contemporary compositions of living composers. The ensemble's focus on both traditional and modern music has helped to establish it as a leading force in the world of classical music. Over the years, Ensemble F has expanded its membership to include a number of other talented musicians, including violinist Sarah Nemtanu, violist Lise Berthaud, and clarinetist Raphaël Sévère. Despite these changes, the ensemble has remained true to its original vision of creating innovative and exciting performances of chamber music. One of the highlights of Ensemble F's career was its performance at the 2006 Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. The ensemble's performance of Olivier Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time" was widely praised for its emotional depth and technical precision. The performance was later released on CD, and has become one of the ensemble's most popular recordings. In 2008, Ensemble F was awarded the prestigious Victoires de la Musique Classique award for "Best Chamber Music Ensemble." This award recognized the ensemble's outstanding contributions to the world of classical music, and helped to establish it as one of the leading chamber music ensembles in France. Since then, Ensemble F has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Edinburgh International Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with a number of other leading musicians, including pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and cellist Gautier Capuçon. In addition to its performances, Ensemble F has also been active in recording and releasing new music. The ensemble's discography includes a number of critically acclaimed recordings, including its 2012 album "Brahms: The Piano Quartets," which was praised for its "exquisite playing" and "impeccable ensemble work." Overall, Ensemble F has established itself as one of the most innovative and exciting chamber music ensembles in the world today. With its focus on both traditional and modern music, and its commitment to creating dynamic and engaging performances, the ensemble has won the hearts of audiences around the world and has helped to redefine the world of classical music for a new generation.
