Asiya Korepanova is a Russian-born classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and innovative approach to classical music. Born on October 23, 1988, in the city of Kazan, Russia, Korepanova began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Korepanova's early musical education was shaped by her mother, who was a piano teacher. Under her mother's guidance, Korepanova began studying the works of classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. She also received training in music theory and composition, which would later become an important part of her artistic vision. At the age of 11, Korepanova was accepted into the Kazan State Conservatory, where she studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Natalia Fish. Fish recognized Korepanova's exceptional talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Under Fish's guidance, Korepanova developed a deep understanding of the technical and artistic aspects of piano performance. In 2006, Korepanova moved to the United States to continue her musical education at the University of North Texas. There, she studied under the pianist and pedagogue Vladimir Viardo, who had himself been a student of the legendary pianist and composer Sergei Prokofiev. Viardo's teaching had a profound impact on Korepanova, who credits him with helping her to develop her own unique artistic voice. Korepanova's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the early 2010s, when she began performing at major venues and festivals around the world. In 2012, she made her debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she performed a program of works by Bach, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff. The performance was widely praised for Korepanova's technical mastery and emotional depth. Since then, Korepanova has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. She has also been a featured soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Korepanova's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as John Adams and Philip Glass. She is also known for her innovative approach to programming, often combining works from different eras and styles to create a unique and compelling musical experience. In addition to her career as a performer, Korepanova is also an accomplished composer and arranger. She has written numerous works for piano, as well as chamber music and orchestral pieces. Her compositions have been performed by a variety of ensembles, including the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic. Korepanova's achievements as a musician have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Prodigy of the Year award by the International Classical Music Awards. She has also been a finalist in several international piano competitions, including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Leeds International Piano Competition.
