The Ewashko Singers is a Canadian classical music ensemble that was founded in 1982 by its namesake, Laurence Ewashko. The group is known for its exceptional choral performances, which have earned it a reputation as one of the finest vocal ensembles in Canada. Laurence Ewashko was born in Ottawa, Canada, in 1952. He began his musical career as a singer, studying voice at the University of Ottawa and later at the University of Toronto. After completing his studies, Ewashko became a member of the Canadian Opera Company, where he performed in a number of productions. In 1982, Ewashko founded the Ewashko Singers, which he envisioned as a professional chamber choir that would perform a wide range of choral music, from early music to contemporary works. The group quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional performances, and it has since become one of the most respected choral ensembles in Canada.
