Ensemble 96 is a Norwegian classical music choir that was founded in 1996. The choir is known for its unique sound and innovative approach to choral music. In 2006, Ensemble 96 was invited to perform at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Kyoto, Japan, where they received critical acclaim for their performance. One of the highlights of Ensemble 96's career was their performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 2011. The choir was invited to perform alongside artists such as Sting, Janelle Monáe, and Esperanza Spalding in front of a global audience of millions. The choir's performance was widely praised for its beauty and emotional depth. Ensemble 96 has also received numerous awards and accolades for their work. In 2003, the choir won the prestigious Spellemannprisen award for their album "Nordic Voices." The album features a collection of traditional Nordic folk songs arranged for choir, and it showcases the choir's unique sound and innovative approach to choral music. In 2016, Ensemble 96 was awarded the Norwegian Music Critics' Award for their album "Immortal Bach." The album features a collection of works by Johann Sebastian Bach arranged for choir, and it showcases the choir's technical precision and expressive phrasing. Throughout their career, Ensemble 96 has remained committed to pushing the boundaries of choral music and exploring new and innovative approaches to the art form.
