David Montgomery was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Montgomery showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the violin at the age of four. Montgomery's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking private lessons with renowned violinists and attending music camps during the summers. By the time he was a teenager, Montgomery had already won several competitions and was performing regularly with local orchestras. After graduating from high school, Montgomery attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied with some of the most respected violinists in the world. He quickly established himself as one of the top students in his class, and he began performing in recitals and concerts throughout the city. In 2007, Montgomery won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded annually to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. The grant provided him with the financial support he needed to continue his studies and pursue his career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, Montgomery continued to perform in concerts and recitals around the world. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2010, and he has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his work as a soloist, Montgomery is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the most respected chamber ensembles in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Montgomery is known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he performs. He is particularly admired for his interpretations of the works of Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. In 2015, Montgomery released his debut album, which featured works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish Montgomery as one of the leading young violinists of his generation. Montgomery continues to perform regularly in concerts and recitals around the world. He is also a dedicated teacher, and he has taught master classes at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, including the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music.
