Marija Ilic is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born in Belgrade, Serbia, on May 5, 1975, Marija showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Marija's musical education began at the Music School "Mokranjac" in Belgrade, where she studied under the guidance of Professor Ljubica Maric. She continued her studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. Marija then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Michigan in the United States, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue, Logan Skelton. Throughout her career, Marija has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe and the United States. She has collaborated with many distinguished musicians, including violinist Midori, cellist David Geringas, and clarinetist David Krakauer. Marija has also performed with numerous orchestras, including the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Michigan Philharmonic, and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Marija's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth. She has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances, including the First Prize at the International Piano Competition "Petar Konjovic" in Belgrade, the First Prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Marsala" in Italy, and the Second Prize at the International Piano Competition "Maria Canals" in Barcelona. In addition to her performing career, Marija is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught at the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo, and the University of Arkansas, where she currently serves as a Professor of Piano. Marija is known for her passionate and inspiring teaching style, and her students have gone on to win numerous awards and competitions. Marija's recordings have also received critical acclaim. Her debut CD, "Bach-Busoni: Chaconne," was released in 2005 and was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth. Her second CD, "Chopin: The Four Ballades," was released in 2010 and was hailed as a "tour de force" by critics. Marija's dedication to music and her passion for teaching have made her a beloved figure in the world of classical music.
