Kaspars Ādamsons, a renowned conductor and composer, founded Versija Chamber Choir with the aim of creating a world-class ensemble that would showcase the rich choral tradition of Latvia. Ādamsons, who had previously conducted the Latvian Radio Choir and the State Choir Latvija, brought his vast experience and expertise to the new ensemble, which quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional performances. The choir's early years were marked by a series of successful performances in Latvia and the Baltic region. In 2007, the choir won first prize at the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf, Germany, which was a major milestone in its development. The competition, which is held every two years, attracts some of the best chamber choirs from around the world, and winning it is considered a great honor. Following its success in Marktoberdorf, Versija Chamber Choir began to receive invitations to perform at major festivals and concert halls across Europe. The choir's repertoire, which includes works by Latvian composers as well as classical choral masterpieces, has been praised for its depth and variety. The choir's performances are characterized by their precision, clarity, and emotional depth, and audiences have been moved by the choir's ability to convey the beauty and power of choral music. One of the highlights of the choir's career was its performance at the 2010 World Choral Symposium in Puerto Madryn, Argentina. The symposium, which is held every three years, brings together choirs and conductors from around the world for a week of workshops, concerts, and cultural exchange. Versija Chamber Choir was one of only a handful of choirs selected to perform at the symposium, and its performance was widely praised for its technical excellence and emotional impact. In addition to its performances, Versija Chamber Choir has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. The choir's first album, "Latvian Sacred Music," was released in 2008 and features works by Latvian composers such as Pēteris Vasks and Ēriks Ešenvalds. The album was praised for its beautiful sound and sensitive interpretations, and it helped to establish the choir's reputation as one of the leading ensembles in the Baltic region. Since then, the choir has released several more albums, including "Northern Lights" (2012), which features works by Scandinavian composers, and "Baltic Sounds" (2016), which showcases the rich choral tradition of the Baltic states. The choir's recordings have received numerous awards and nominations, including a Grammy nomination for "Northern Lights." Versija Chamber Choir has also collaborated with some of the leading orchestras and conductors in the world. In 2014, the choir performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, one of the most respected conductors of our time.
