He studied with some of the most prominent musicians of the time, including François-Joseph Gossec and Luigi Boccherini. He wrote a number of chamber music pieces, including string quartets and sonatas for violin and piano. His music was well-received, and he quickly gained a reputation as a talented composer. In 1796, Dalvimare was appointed as the music director of the Théâtre Feydeau in Paris.
