Clíona Doris is a renowned Irish harpist and composer who has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. Born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1971, Doris grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. Her father, Seán Doris, was a well-known traditional Irish musician, and her mother, Mary Doris, was a classical pianist. Doris began playing the harp at the age of eight and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Doris received her early musical education at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, where she studied with the renowned harpist Gráinne Yeats. She later went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where she received a scholarship to study with the legendary harpist Marisa Robles. Doris also studied composition with Kevin Volans and Nicola LeFanu at Trinity College Dublin. The performance was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world and was widely praised for its beauty and emotional impact. Doris has also been the recipient of numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 1994, she was awarded the prestigious Young Musician of the Year award by the Irish Arts Council. She was also awarded the Bank of Ireland Millennium Award in 2000, which recognized her as one of Ireland's leading young artists. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious OBE (Order of the British Empire) for her services to music. In addition to her work as a performer, Doris is also an accomplished composer. She has written numerous works for the harp, as well as chamber music and orchestral works. Doris is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Royal College of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York.
