Nicolas Boyer is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Paris, France in 1989, Boyer showed an early aptitude for music and began studying piano at the age of six. His parents, both amateur musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Boyer's early musical education was shaped by his studies with renowned French pianist and pedagogue, Jacques Rouvier. Under Rouvier's guidance, Boyer developed a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of the classical repertoire. He also began to explore contemporary music, which would become a lifelong interest. In 2007, Boyer was accepted into the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he studied with Michel Beroff and Claire Désert. During his time at the conservatory, Boyer won several awards and competitions, including the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship and the Prix du Public at the Concours International de Piano d'Epinal. After completing his studies at the conservatory, Boyer continued to hone his craft through masterclasses with some of the world's most renowned pianists, including Murray Perahia, András Schiff, and Maria João Pires. He also began to perform extensively, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. One of Boyer's most notable performances came in 2012, when he was invited to perform at the prestigious La Roque d'Anthéron International Piano Festival. His performance of Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit was widely praised for its technical brilliance and emotional depth. The following year, Boyer made his debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, performing a program of works by Schumann, Liszt, and Debussy. Boyer's international career began to take off in 2014, when he won first prize at the International Piano Competition of San Marino. This victory led to a series of high-profile performances, including a recital at the Berlin Philharmonic and a tour of Japan with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his solo performances, Boyer is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including violinist Renaud Capuçon and cellist Gautier Capuçon. In 2016, Boyer formed the Trio Karénine with violinist Fanny Robilliard and cellist Louis Rodde. The trio has quickly gained a reputation for its dynamic performances and innovative programming. Boyer's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque era to the present day. He has a particular affinity for the music of Debussy and Ravel, and has recorded several albums of their works. His recording of Ravel's complete piano works was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. In addition to his performing career, Boyer is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at institutions around the world, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He is currently a professor of piano at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Throughout his career, Boyer has received numerous awards and accolades for his artistry. In addition to his victory at the International Piano Competition of San Marino, he has been awarded the Prix de la Fondation Safran pour la Musique and the Prix de la Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca.
