He was the youngest of four children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that Jacques would develop an interest in music at a young age. Jacques began his musical education at the age of six when he started taking piano lessons. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and was soon performing in public. At the age of 12, he gave his first public recital, which was a huge success. This performance marked the beginning of his career as a classical musician. In 1950, Jacques moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire de Paris. He studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers of the time, including Marguerite Long and Yvonne Lefébure. During his time at the conservatory, Jacques won several awards and prizes, including the first prize in piano and chamber music. After completing his studies, Jacques began performing in concerts all over Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and passionate musician, and his performances were always well-received by audiences and critics alike. In 1958, he made his debut in the United States, performing at the Carnegie Hall in New York City. Throughout his career, Jacques performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He also collaborated with many famous conductors, such as Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, and Claudio Abbado. One of the highlights of Jacques' career was his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1963. This performance was recorded and released on vinyl, and it quickly became one of the best-selling classical music recordings of all time. Jacques' interpretation of the concerto was praised for its passion and intensity, and it remains a classic recording to this day. In addition to his performances, Jacques was also a respected teacher. He taught at the Conservatoire de Paris for many years, and many of his students went on to have successful careers as musicians.
