He was a dedicated student and quickly became known for his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. After completing his studies, MacKenzie began performing professionally, quickly establishing himself as one of the most talented violinists of his generation. Throughout his career, MacKenzie performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of MacKenzie's most notable performances was his 1976 performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra.
