He formed a folk duo with Sylvia Fricker, and they became known as Ian and Sylvia. The duo released their first album, "Ian & Sylvia," in 1962, which included the hit song "Four Strong Winds." The song became a Canadian classic and has been covered by numerous artists over the years. Ian and Sylvia continued to release albums throughout the 1960s, including "Northern Journey" (1964), "Early Morning Rain" (1965), and "Lovin' Sound" (1967). They were known for their blend of folk, country, and rock music, and their songs often dealt with social and political issues. In the late 1960s, Ian and Sylvia's marriage began to break down, and they eventually divorced in 1975. Tyson continued to perform and record as a solo artist, releasing albums such as "Ian Tyson" (1970), "Cowboyography" (1986), and "Yellowhead to Yellowstone and Other Love Stories" (2008). Tyson was also a prolific songwriter, and his compositions have been recorded by many other artists. Some of his most famous songs include "Someday Soon," "Summer Wages," and "Four Strong Winds." His music has been described as a blend of traditional country and western music with a modern sensibility. In addition to his music career, Tyson was also a rancher and a horseman.
