Kypros Markou is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on May 15, 1985, in Nicosia, Cyprus, Markou showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Markou's musical journey began when he enrolled in the Cyprus State Conservatory, where he studied piano under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Dr. Tatiana Stupak. He showed exceptional talent and dedication, and soon became one of the most promising young pianists in Cyprus. In 2003, Markou was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. There, he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Christopher Elton, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2007. Markou's talent and dedication to music did not go unnoticed, and he soon began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and concerts around the world. In 2008, he was invited to perform at the prestigious International Piano Festival in Santander, Spain, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. Markou's career continued to flourish, and he went on to perform at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Markou's talent and dedication to music have been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. He was also awarded the First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Moscow in 2012. Markou's dedication to music extends beyond his performances as a pianist.
