Erich Louis Graf was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Graf showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional musical abilities. Graf's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and later studied at the Vienna Conservatory of Music. He also received training from some of the most renowned pianists of his time, including Martha Argerich and Alfred Brendel. Graf's talent was soon recognized by the wider music community, and he began performing at major concerts and festivals around the world. He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2005, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success, and Graf received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing. Over the years, Graf has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Riccardo Muti. Graf's repertoire is vast and includes works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Schumann. He is particularly renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which he has performed in their entirety on numerous occasions. In addition to his performances, Graf is also a prolific recording artist. He has recorded over 20 albums, including complete cycles of Beethoven's piano sonatas and concertos. His recordings have received numerous awards and accolades, including several Grammys. Graf's talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize, which recognizes outstanding achievement in classical music. He has also been awarded the International Beethoven Prize and the Chopin Prize, among others. Despite his success, Graf remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and record, always striving to improve and push the boundaries of classical music.
