Egle Sidlauskaite is a Lithuanian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and chamber musician. Born on May 22, 1989, in Vilnius, Lithuania, Egle showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Her parents, who were both musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Egle's early musical education was at the National M.K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in Vilnius, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Rasa Vitkauskaite. She later went on to study at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Petras Geniusas. During her studies, Egle participated in numerous international competitions and festivals, where she won several awards and prizes. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Young Musician" in Vilnius, and in 2009, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition "Roma 2009" in Italy. In 2010, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy, and in 2011, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Marsala" in Italy. Egle's talent and hard work paid off, and she soon began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. In 2012, she made her debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York, where she performed as part of the "Rising Stars" series. She has also performed at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Moscow Conservatory, and the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, among others. Egle is also an accomplished chamber musician and has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Gidon Kremer, cellist David Geringas, and clarinetist Sabine Meyer. In 2014, she formed the Sidlauskaite Piano Trio with violinist Rasa Vosyliute and cellist Gleb Pyšniak, and the trio has since performed at many prestigious festivals and concert halls around the world. In addition to her performing career, Egle is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Vilnius Balys Dvarionas Music School. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with young musicians and helping them to develop their own musical talents. Egle's repertoire is diverse and includes works by classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. She is known for her sensitive and nuanced interpretations of the music she plays, and her performances are always marked by a deep emotional connection to the music. Egle has received many accolades and awards throughout her career, including the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize in 2019, which is the highest honor awarded to artists in Lithuania. She has also been recognized for her contributions to the cultural life of Lithuania and has been awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, which is one of the highest honors awarded by the Lithuanian government. Despite her many achievements, Egle remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, and her passion for music is evident in everything she does.
