She was born into a family of musicians, with her father being a composer and her mother a pianist. Her parents recognized her musical talent at a young age and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Papandreou began playing the guitar at the age of four and gave her first public performance at the age of seven. She studied at the National Conservatory of Athens and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Austria. She also studied with renowned guitarists such as Oscar Ghiglia and Alvaro Pierri. In 1988, Papandreou won first prize at the Guitar Foundation of America Competition, which launched her international career. She has since performed in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Papandreou has also collaborated with many renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. She has worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle, and Vladimir Ashkenazy. In addition to her solo career, Papandreou is also a member of the Athens Guitar Trio, which she founded in 1990. The trio has performed extensively throughout Europe and has released several recordings. Papandreou has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career.
