Role:ComposerBirth:September 1, 1984 in Linköping, SwedenLudwig Goransson is a Swedish composer, producer, and musician who has made a name for himself in the world of film and television music. Born on September 1, 1984, in Linköping, Sweden, Goransson grew up in a musical family. His mother was a violinist, and his father was a guitarist, so it was only natural that he would develop an interest in music at a young age. Goransson began playing the piano when he was just six years old and later picked up the guitar. He was also interested in jazz and started playing in a jazz band when he was in high school. After completing his studies, Goransson moved to the United States to attend the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. While at USC, Goransson studied under some of the most respected names in the music industry, including film composer Jerry Goldsmith. He also formed a band called The Funky Butt Club, which played a mix of jazz, funk, and hip-hop. The band's unique sound caught the attention of several record labels, and they eventually signed with Stones Throw Records. In 2009, Goransson released his debut album, "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie," under the name Ludovin. The album was well-received and showcased Goransson's talent as a composer and producer. He continued to work on his own music while also collaborating with other artists, including Childish Gambino, Haim, and Chance the Rapper. Goransson's big break in the film industry came in 2013 when he was hired to compose the score for the indie film "Fruitvale Station." The film, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, tells the story of the last day in the life of Oscar Grant, a young black man who was shot and killed by a police officer in Oakland, California. Goransson's haunting score perfectly captured the film's emotional tone and earned him critical acclaim. Goransson's next big project was the hit TV series "Community," which he worked on from 2009 to 2014. He composed the show's theme song and also wrote the music for several episodes. His work on "Community" caught the attention of Donald Glover, who was a writer and actor on the show. Glover, who also performs under the name Childish Gambino, asked Goransson to produce his next album, "Because the Internet." The collaboration between Glover and Goransson proved to be a huge success. The album, which was released in 2013, received critical acclaim and earned Goransson a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. The two continued to work together on Glover's next album, "Awaken, My Love!," which was released in 2016. Goransson's work on "Awaken, My Love!" marked a departure from his previous projects. The album was heavily influenced by 1970s funk and soul music and featured live instrumentation. The album's lead single, "Redbone," became a massive hit and earned Goransson a Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2018, Goransson was hired to compose the score for the Marvel superhero film "Black Panther." The film, which was directed by Ryan Coogler, tells the story of T'Challa, the king of Wakanda, a fictional African nation. Goransson's score for the film was a fusion of traditional African music and modern hip-hop and featured a 132-piece orchestra and a 40-person choir. The score was a critical and commercial success and earned Goransson an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Goransson's success with "Black Panther" led to more high-profile projects.More....
