Cyril Guillotin was born on May 12, 1985, in Paris, France. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Cyril showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Cyril's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Jean-Pierre Dupont, at the age of six. Cyril quickly excelled in his studies and began performing in public at the age of eight. At the age of ten, Cyril won his first major competition, the Paris Conservatory Piano Competition. This win propelled him into the spotlight and he began receiving invitations to perform at major venues across Europe. Cyril continued to study with Jean-Pierre Dupont throughout his teenage years and went on to attend the Paris Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist, Marie-Claire Alain. During his time at the conservatory, Cyril won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Prix de Rome. After graduating from the conservatory, Cyril began performing professionally and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. He performed at major venues across Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2008, Cyril was invited to perform at the International Piano Festival in Moscow, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. The performance was recorded and released as a live album, which went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo. Cyril continued to perform and record throughout the 2010s, releasing several critically acclaimed albums and performing at major venues around the world. In 2015, he was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the arts. In addition to his performing career, Cyril is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Paris Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School in New York City. Cyril Guillotin is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of his generation and his contributions to the world of classical music will be remembered for generations to come.
