Artist Info
Konrad Häsler was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1948, in Zurich, Switzerland. He was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Konrad's parents recognized his musical talent at an early age and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Konrad began his musical education at the Zurich Conservatory, where he studied piano and composition. He later continued his studies at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Rosina Lhévinne. After completing his studies, Konrad embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical prowess and his ability to interpret complex musical works. He performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States, playing with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras and conductors. One of Konrad's most notable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 1975. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, to critical acclaim. The performance was hailed as a triumph, and Konrad was praised for his virtuosity and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the music. Over the course of his career, Konrad received numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 1982, he was awarded the Prix de Lausanne, a prestigious international competition for young dancers and musicians. He was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1998 for his contributions to the arts. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Konrad was also a dedicated chamber musician. He frequently collaborated with other musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Together, they performed works by some of the greatest composers in the classical music canon, including Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. Konrad was also a respected teacher and mentor to many young musicians. He taught at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He was known for his rigorous approach to teaching and his ability to inspire his students to reach their full potential. Tragically, Konrad's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2005. He continued to perform and teach despite his illness, but he passed away on January 15, 2007, at the age of 58. Konrad Häsler's legacy as a musician and teacher continues to inspire generations of musicians. His technical mastery and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the music he played have earned him a place among the greatest pianists of the 20th century. His dedication to teaching and his commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on the world of classical music.More....
