Der Musikalische Garten is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 in Berlin, Germany. The ensemble is made up of four main members, including violinist Anna-Lena Perenthaler, cellist Johannes Krebs, pianist Maria Kalesnikava, and clarinetist Sebastian Manz. The group has gained recognition for their unique approach to classical music, which combines traditional repertoire with contemporary works and improvisation. The founding members of Der Musikalische Garten met while studying at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. They quickly discovered a shared passion for exploring the boundaries of classical music and began performing together as a quartet. The ensemble's name, which translates to "The Musical Garden," reflects their desire to create a space where different musical styles and traditions can come together and flourish. Since their founding, Der Musikalische Garten has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. They have also collaborated with a number of renowned musicians, including pianist Igor Levit and conductor Daniel Barenboim. One of the ensemble's most notable performances was their debut at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2017. The concert featured a program of works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann, as well as a new composition by German composer Jörg Widmann. The ensemble's performance was praised for its technical precision and emotional depth, and they received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to their live performances, Der Musikalische Garten has also released several recordings. Their debut album, "Garden of Dreams," was released in 2018 and features works by Schubert, Brahms, and Widmann. In 2016, they were awarded the prestigious German Music Competition Prize, which recognizes outstanding young musicians in Germany.
