Guido Gualandi was born on May 12, 1985, in Bologna, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Gualandi showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of six. As he grew older, Gualandi's passion for music continued to grow, and he began to explore other instruments, including the violin and the cello. He also began to study music theory and composition, and by the age of 16, he had already composed several pieces of music. In 2003, Gualandi was accepted into the Conservatorio di Musica di Bologna, where he studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Franco Scala. During his time at the conservatory, Gualandi also studied composition and music theory, and he began to perform in public concerts and recitals. After graduating from the conservatory in 2007, Gualandi continued his studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied under the tutelage of pianist and conductor, Antonio Pappano. During his time in Rome, Gualandi also had the opportunity to perform with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, one of the most prestigious orchestras in Italy. In 2010, Gualandi made his debut as a soloist with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Bologna, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a great success, and Gualandi received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing and musical interpretation. Over the next few years, Gualandi continued to perform as a soloist with orchestras throughout Italy and Europe, including the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and the Orchestre National de France. In 2014, Gualandi was awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, one of the most important awards in the Italian classical music world. The award recognized Gualandi's outstanding contributions to the field of classical music and his exceptional talent as a pianist. In addition to his work as a soloist, Gualandi is also an accomplished chamber musician, and he has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Quartetto di Cremona and the Trio di Parma. Gualandi is also a dedicated teacher, and he has taught piano and music theory at several prestigious institutions, including the Conservatorio di Musica di Bologna and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Throughout his career, Gualandi has remained committed to promoting classical music and making it accessible to a wider audience. He has collaborated with several contemporary composers, and he has premiered several new works for piano. Today, Guido Gualandi is recognized as one of the most talented and accomplished pianists of his generation.
