Maewa Kaihau was a classical music composer born on September 12, 1975, in Auckland, New Zealand. She was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a singer. From a young age, Maewa was exposed to music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Maewa's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue music. She began taking piano lessons and quickly progressed. By the age of ten, she had already composed her first piece of music.
