Canta Libre Chamber Ensemble is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock. The ensemble is based in Long Island, New York, and is known for its unique blend of flute, harp, and strings. Sally Shorrock, the founder of Canta Libre, is a highly accomplished flutist who has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles throughout the United States and Europe. She has also been a faculty member at several prestigious music schools, including the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School. Shorrock founded Canta Libre with the goal of creating a chamber ensemble that would showcase the beauty and versatility of the flute, harp, and strings. The ensemble's name, which means "sing freely" in Italian, reflects this mission. The main members of Canta Libre are Sally Shorrock on flute, Karen Lindquist on harp, Veronica Salas on violin, Bradley Bosenbeck on viola, and Bernard Tamosaitis on cello. All of the members of the ensemble are highly accomplished musicians who have performed with major orchestras and ensembles throughout the world. Canta Libre has performed at numerous prestigious venues throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center.
