He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a classical pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, O'Connor showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. O'Connor's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of six. O'Connor continued to study music throughout his childhood and adolescence, attending the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. In 2003, O'Connor was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. There, he studied under renowned pianist Joanna MacGregor and honed his skills as a performer and composer. O'Connor quickly made a name for himself in the classical music world, winning several awards and competitions. One of O'Connor's most notable performances was at the 2006 International Piano Competition in Leeds, where he was awarded the second prize. His performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111 was particularly praised by the judges and audience alike.
