Markku Heikinheimo is a renowned Finnish pianist and music educator who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. He was born on August 22, 1946, in Helsinki, Finland, to a family of musicians. His father, Aarre Heikinheimo, was a well-known composer and conductor, and his mother, Eeva-Liisa Saarinen, was a pianist and music teacher. Heikinheimo began his musical training at a young age, studying piano with his mother. He later went on to study at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he received his diploma in piano performance in 1970. He also studied with renowned pianists such as György Sebők, Maria João Pires, and Leon Fleisher.
