Artist Info
Robert Gleadow is a Canadian classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a bass-baritone singer. Born on May 22, 1982, in Ottawa, Canada, Gleadow grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a professional trumpet player, and his mother was a music teacher. From a young age, Gleadow showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of five. As he grew older, Gleadow's interest in music expanded to include singing. He began taking voice lessons and quickly discovered that he had a natural talent for singing. He continued to study music throughout his childhood and teenage years, eventually earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto. After completing his undergraduate studies, Gleadow went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Royal College of Music in London, England. It was during his time at the Royal College of Music that Gleadow began to establish himself as a rising star in the world of classical music. One of Gleadow's early breakthrough performances came in 2006 when he won the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Award, a competition for young singers in the United Kingdom. This award helped to launch Gleadow's career and led to a number of high-profile performances in the years that followed. In 2008, Gleadow made his debut at the Royal Opera House in London, singing the role of Colline in Puccini's "La Bohème." This performance was widely praised by critics and helped to establish Gleadow as one of the most promising young singers of his generation. Over the years, Gleadow has performed in a wide range of operas and concerts, both in the United Kingdom and around the world. Some of his most notable performances include his portrayal of Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 2010, and his performance as the title character in Handel's "Hercules" at the English National Opera in 2012. In addition to his work on the opera stage, Gleadow has also made a name for himself as a concert performer. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Gleadow has received numerous awards and accolades for his work in the world of classical music. In addition to the Kathleen Ferrier Award, he has also been awarded the John Christie Award for the most promising young singer at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and the Richard Tauber Prize for the best interpretation of Schubert Lieder. Despite his many accomplishments, Gleadow remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to work tirelessly to improve his singing and to bring the beauty of classical music to audiences around the world. With his talent, dedication, and passion for music, there is no doubt that Robert Gleadow will continue to be a major force in the world of classical music for many years to come.More....
