Born on May 22, 1985, in Helsinki, Finland, Aki showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional musical abilities. Aki's parents were both musicians, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. He began taking piano lessons with renowned Finnish pianist and teacher, Liisa Pohjola, who recognized his talent and potential. In 2003, Aki was accepted into the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. During his time at the Sibelius Academy, Aki also began to explore his interest in conducting and composition. He studied conducting with Atso Almila and composition with Jukka Tiensuu, both of whom were influential in shaping his musical style and approach. Aki's career as a pianist took off after he won the first prize in the International Maj Lind Piano Competition in 2009. This prestigious competition is held every five years in Helsinki and is open to pianists under the age of 30. Aki's performance in the final round, where he played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, was hailed as a triumph, and he received widespread acclaim for his musicality and technical prowess. Since then, Aki has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also given recitals in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his career as a pianist, Aki has also established himself as a conductor and composer. He has conducted many of the leading orchestras in Finland, including the Finnish National Opera Orchestra, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
