He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a jazz pianist and his mother a classical pianist. Savioni began playing the piano at the age of four and showed a natural talent for music. He later studied music theory and composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Savioni's early compositions were heavily influenced by the works of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. He was also inspired by the music of contemporary composers such as Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Savioni's music was characterized by its intricate harmonies, complex rhythms, and use of unconventional instruments. In 1982, Savioni composed his first major work, a piano concerto titled "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra." The piece was well-received by critics and established Savioni as a promising young composer. He went on to compose several other works for piano, including "Sonata for Piano" and "Piano Trio." Savioni's music was not limited to the piano, however. He also composed works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. One of his most notable works was "Symphony No. 1," which was premiered by the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in 1990. The piece was praised for its innovative use of orchestration and its complex harmonic structure. In addition to his classical compositions, Savioni also wrote music for film and television. He composed the score for several independent films, including "The Last Days of Disco" and "The Secret Life of Dentists."
