Born in Milan, Italy in 1962, Rossetti-Bonell began playing the guitar at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. As a child, Rossetti-Bonell was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, including classical, jazz, and rock. He was particularly drawn to the works of Spanish composers such as Isaac Albéniz and Joaquín Rodrigo, whose music would later become a cornerstone of his repertoire. Rossetti-Bonell's early musical education was guided by his father, who was a professional guitarist and composer. Under his father's tutelage, Rossetti-Bonell developed a deep understanding of the technical and musical aspects of the guitar, as well as a love for the instrument that would stay with him throughout his life. In his teenage years, Rossetti-Bonell began to study with some of the most renowned guitarists of the time, including Julian Bream and John Williams. These experiences helped him to refine his technique and develop his own unique style, which blended elements of classical, flamenco, and jazz guitar. Rossetti-Bonell's breakthrough came in 1986, when he won first prize at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America competition. This award brought him international recognition and opened the doors to a career as a soloist and chamber musician. Since then, Rossetti-Bonell has performed in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has collaborated with many of the leading orchestras and conductors of our time, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sir Simon Rattle. One of Rossetti-Bonell's most notable performances was his 1992 debut at the Wigmore Hall in London, where he received critical acclaim for his interpretation of works by Albéniz, Rodrigo, and Manuel de Falla. This performance helped to establish him as one of the leading interpreters of Spanish guitar music. In addition to his solo career, Rossetti-Bonell is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading string quartets, including the Tokyo String Quartet and the Emerson String Quartet. He has also recorded several albums with his wife, the cellist Natalie Clein, which have received widespread critical acclaim. Throughout his career, Rossetti-Bonell has been recognized for his contributions to classical music. In addition to his Guitar Foundation of America award, he has received numerous other honors, including the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award and the Premio de la Crítica de Madrid. Despite his many achievements, Rossetti-Bonell remains committed to his craft and continues to push the boundaries of classical guitar music. He is known for his innovative interpretations of traditional works, as well as his collaborations with contemporary composers. In recent years, Rossetti-Bonell has also become an advocate for music education.
