The Hollywood Salon Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that has been entertaining audiences for over two decades. Founded in 1999 by conductor and pianist Richard Allen, the orchestra has become known for its unique blend of classical and popular music, as well as its commitment to preserving the music of Hollywood's Golden Age. Richard Allen, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, had a vision to create an orchestra that would celebrate the music of Hollywood's Golden Age. He wanted to bring the music of composers such as Max Steiner, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Franz Waxman to a wider audience, while also showcasing the talents of contemporary composers who were inspired by this era of music. To achieve this vision, Allen assembled a group of talented musicians who shared his passion for classical and popular music. The ensemble's main members include violinists Luanne Homzy and Tereza Stanislav, cellist Armen Ksajikian, and bassist Oscar Hidalgo. Over the years, the orchestra has also featured guest performers such as pianist Michael Chertock and vocalist Melissa Manchester. One of the highlights of the Hollywood Salon Orchestra's career was their performance at the 2002 Academy Awards ceremony. The orchestra was invited to perform a medley of songs from the nominated films, including "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from Armageddon. The performance was well-received by both the audience and critics, and helped to raise the profile of the orchestra. In addition to their performance at the Academy Awards, the Hollywood Salon Orchestra has also performed at numerous other high-profile events. They have played at the Emmy Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, among others. They have also performed at venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Kennedy Center. The Hollywood Salon Orchestra has also released several albums over the years. Their debut album, Hollywood Salon Orchestra, was released in 2000 and featured music from classic films such as Gone with the Wind and Casablanca. They have since released several other albums, including Hollywood Salon Orchestra Plays the Music of John Williams and Hollywood Salon Orchestra Plays the Music of Ennio Morricone. In recognition of their contributions to the world of classical music, the Hollywood Salon Orchestra has received several awards and honors. In 2003, they were awarded the Hollywood Walk of Fame Star for their contributions to the entertainment industry. They have also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Crossover Album for their album Hollywood Salon Orchestra Plays the Music of John Williams. Despite their success, the Hollywood Salon Orchestra remains committed to their mission of preserving the music of Hollywood's Golden Age. They continue to perform at events and venues around the world, bringing the music of the past to new audiences. With their unique blend of classical and popular music, the Hollywood Salon Orchestra has become a beloved institution in the world of classical music.
