He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began studying with renowned pianists in France. Mathieu's early musical education was focused on classical piano, and he spent many hours practicing and perfecting his technique. He also began composing his own music at a young age, drawing inspiration from the great composers of the past as well as contemporary artists. In 2003, he won first prize in the International Piano Competition in Nice, France, and in 2005, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his debut album, "Rémi Mathieu Plays Chopin." Over the years, Mathieu has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
