Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu is a Taiwanese-American violinist who has established herself as one of the most sought-after soloists and chamber musicians of her generation. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 22, 1980, Wu began playing the violin at the age of four. Her parents, both amateur musicians, recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Wu's family moved to the United States when she was six years old, and she continued her musical studies with renowned teachers such as Dorothy DeLay, Hyo Kang, and Cho-Liang Lin. She attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. Wu's career as a soloist began to take off in the early 2000s, when she won several prestigious competitions, including the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the Naumburg International Violin Competition. These awards helped to establish her as a rising star in the classical music world, and she quickly became known for her virtuosic playing and expressive interpretations. Wu has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
