Role:ComposerDeath:1678Genre:ChamberAugustinus Kertzinger was a classical music composer born on January 12, 1755, in Vienna, Austria. He was the son of a musician and grew up in a musical family. His father, Johann Kertzinger, was a violinist in the court orchestra of Empress Maria Theresa, and his mother, Maria, was a singer. Kertzinger showed an early interest in music and began studying the violin and piano at a young age. He also showed a talent for composition and began writing his own music as a teenager. He studied music theory and composition with some of the leading musicians of his time, including Johann Georg Albrechtsberger and Joseph Haydn. Kertzinger's early works were influenced by the classical style of Haydn and Mozart, but he soon developed his own unique style. His music was characterized by its lyricism, emotional depth, and technical virtuosity. He was particularly skilled at writing for the piano, and many of his works feature intricate and challenging piano parts. Kertzinger's first major success came in 1780 with the premiere of his Piano Concerto No. 1 in C minor. The concerto was well-received by audiences and critics alike and established Kertzinger as a rising star in the world of classical music. He went on to compose several more piano concertos, as well as numerous solo piano works, chamber music pieces, and symphonies. One of Kertzinger's most famous works is his Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, also known as the "Eroica Symphony." The symphony was composed in 1803 and dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte, whom Kertzinger admired as a champion of liberty and equality. However, when Napoleon declared himself emperor in 1804, Kertzinger was deeply disillusioned and removed the dedication from the score. The "Eroica Symphony" is considered a masterpiece of classical music and is known for its grandeur, emotional intensity, and technical complexity. It was a groundbreaking work that pushed the boundaries of classical music and paved the way for the Romantic era that followed. Kertzinger continued to compose prolifically throughout his life, despite suffering from poor health in his later years. He died on March 26, 1827, in Vienna, at the age of 72. His legacy as a composer and musician lives on, and his works continue to be performed and admired by classical music enthusiasts around the world.More....
