Andrej Gal was born on May 12, 1985, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Andrej showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Andrej was a prodigious talent and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional musical abilities. He won his first piano competition at the age of six and went on to win numerous other competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years. In 2003, Andrej was accepted into the prestigious Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, where he studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. During his time at the Mozarteum, Andrej honed his skills as a pianist and developed a deep understanding of the classical repertoire. After completing his studies at the Mozarteum, Andrej embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Andrej's career was his performance at the 2010 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. The competition is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world, and Andrej's performance was met with critical acclaim. He was awarded third prize in the competition, cementing his reputation as one of the world's leading pianists. In addition to his solo performances, Andrej has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with some of the most renowned conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Zubin Mehta. Throughout his career, Andrej has received numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional musical talent. In addition to his success at the International Chopin Piano Competition, he has also been awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Gilmore Young Artist Award. Despite his success, Andrej remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform regularly and is committed to sharing his love of classical music with audiences around the world. His passion for music and his exceptional talent have made him one of the most respected and admired pianists of his generation.
