His compositions often feature intricate rhythms, complex harmonies, and a strong sense of melody. One of Young's early works, "The Art of Fugue," was written when he was just 16 years old. The piece is a tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach's famous work of the same name and features a series of fugues and canons that showcase Young's skill as a composer. In 2013, Young was commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra to write a piece for their "Discovery" series.
