Role:EnsembleBearthoven is a contemporary classical music ensemble that was formed in 2013. The group consists of three members: pianist Karl Larson, bassist Pat Swoboda, and percussionist Matt Evans. The group is known for their unique sound, which blends elements of classical music, jazz, and rock. Karl Larson, the pianist of Bearthoven, was born in 1987 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began playing the piano at a young age and went on to study music at the University of Minnesota. After completing his undergraduate degree, Larson moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He received his Master's degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2012. Pat Swoboda, the bassist of Bearthoven, was born in 1985 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He began playing the bass guitar at the age of 14 and went on to study music at the University of Minnesota. After completing his undergraduate degree, Swoboda moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He has performed with a number of notable musicians, including jazz pianist Vijay Iyer and indie rock band Okkervil River. Matt Evans, the percussionist of Bearthoven, was born in 1985 in New York City. He began playing the drums at a young age and went on to study music at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After completing his undergraduate degree, Evans moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He has performed with a number of notable musicians, including indie rock band Tigue and experimental music ensemble Man Forever. Bearthoven was formed in 2013 when Larson, Swoboda, and Evans met while studying at the Yale School of Music. The group quickly gained a following for their unique sound, which blends elements of classical music, jazz, and rock. They have been praised for their virtuosic playing and their ability to seamlessly blend different genres of music. One of the highlights of Bearthoven's career was their performance at the Bang on a Can Marathon in 2014. The Bang on a Can Marathon is an annual music festival that features performances by contemporary classical music ensembles from around the world. Bearthoven's performance at the festival was widely praised, and they were invited back to perform at the festival in 2015. In 2015, Bearthoven released their debut album, Trios.
