Artist Info

Sonodualis is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, violinist Sarah Johnson and pianist David Lee. The duo met while studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music. They decided to form their own ensemble, with the goal of exploring the rich and diverse repertoire of classical music and bringing it to audiences around the world. The name Sonodualis is a combination of two words: "sono," which means "sound" in Italian, and "dualis," which means "dual" or "two" in Latin. This reflects the fact that the ensemble is made up of just two musicians, who work together to create a rich and complex sound that belies their small number. Sarah Johnson is a highly accomplished violinist who has won numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. She has performed as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She is also a dedicated chamber musician, and has performed with some of the most renowned ensembles in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. David Lee is an equally talented pianist, who has also won many awards and prizes for his playing. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Pops, and has given recitals in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Together, Johnson and Lee form a formidable duo, with a deep understanding of each other's playing and a shared commitment to excellence in music-making. They have performed together extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and have received critical acclaim for their performances. One of the highlights of Sonodualis's career so far was their performance at the 2017 Newport Music Festival in Rhode Island. The festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious classical music events in the United States, and attracts some of the world's leading musicians. Sonodualis was invited to perform a program of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Ravel, and received a standing ovation from the audience. Another notable performance was their appearance at the 2018 Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. The festival is one of the largest and most important cultural events in the world, and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Sonodualis performed a program of works by Mozart, Schubert, and Debussy, and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. In addition to their performances, Sonodualis has also won several awards and prizes for their recordings. Their debut album, which featured works by Beethoven and Brahms, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim, and was named one of the best classical albums of the year by several publications. Overall, Sonodualis is a dynamic and exciting ensemble that is making a name for itself in the world of classical music. With their exceptional musicianship and deep commitment to the art of chamber music, they are sure to continue delighting audiences for many years to come.
