One of Trueman's most well-known works is "Nostalgic Synchronic," a piece for string quartet and electronics that was commissioned by the Kronos Quartet in 2001. The piece incorporates recordings of Trueman's grandmother playing the piano, as well as sounds from a Hardanger fiddle. The piece has been described as a "meditation on memory and the passage of time." Trueman's other notable works include "Silent City," a piece for orchestra and electronics that was commissioned by the American Composers Orchestra in 2007. The piece was inspired by the sounds of New York City and incorporates field recordings of the city's streets and subways. In addition to his work as a composer, Trueman is also a performer and educator.
