Brian Hsu is a classical pianist who has made a name for himself in the world of music. Born in Taiwan, Hsu showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Hsu's family moved to the United States when he was eight years old, and he continued his piano studies with renowned teachers. He attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Hsu's talent and dedication to his craft quickly became evident, and he began to receive recognition for his performances. He won several competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition, the New York International Piano Competition, and the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. Hsu has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. He has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Hsu's most memorable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2009. He performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The New York Times praised his "sensitive and nuanced playing," and the audience gave him a standing ovation. Hsu has also been recognized for his recordings. His album of Chopin's complete Nocturnes was praised by critics for its "poetic and sensitive playing." He has also recorded works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Liszt. In addition to his performing career, Hsu is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, and he currently teaches at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
