Petronio Orchestra & Chorus is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2003 by conductor and composer, Maestro Francesco Petronio. The ensemble is based in Rome, Italy, and is known for its exceptional performances of classical music, particularly works from the Baroque and Romantic periods. Maestro Petronio, who serves as the ensemble's artistic director and conductor, is a highly respected figure in the classical music world. He has conducted orchestras and choirs all over the world, and has received numerous awards and accolades for his work. His vision for Petronio Orchestra & Chorus was to create a group of musicians who shared his passion for classical music and who could bring his unique artistic vision to life. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned soloists, including pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Maxim Vengerov. One of the highlights of Petronio Orchestra & Chorus's career was their performance of Handel's Messiah at the Vatican in 2008. The performance was attended by Pope Benedict XVI and was broadcast live on television and radio around the world. The ensemble received widespread acclaim for their performance, with many critics praising their precision and emotional depth. In addition to their performances of classical music, Petronio Orchestra & Chorus is also known for their commitment to contemporary music. The ensemble has premiered works by some of Italy's most innovative composers, including Fabio Vacchi and Carlo Boccadoro.
