Constance Frei was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She was born into a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a violinist. From a young age, Constance showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Constance's passion for music only intensified. She began studying at the Vienna Conservatory of Music at the age of 12, where she excelled in her studies. Her talent was quickly recognized, and she was soon performing in concerts and competitions throughout Austria. In 2003, Constance was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. This was a major turning point in her career, as she was now able to study with some of the most renowned musicians in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Constance continued to excel in her studies and was awarded numerous prizes and awards for her performances. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Constance began performing professionally. She quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of her generation, and her performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. One of Constance's most memorable performances was at the 2010 International Piano Competition in Moscow. She performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, which is widely considered to be one of the most difficult pieces in the classical repertoire. Constance's performance was nothing short of breathtaking, and she was awarded first prize in the competition. In addition to her solo performances, Constance has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras. She has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic, among others. Her performances with these orchestras have been praised for their musicality and sensitivity. Constance has also been recognized for her contributions to the classical music world. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. She was also named a Steinway Artist in 2017, which is a distinction given to pianists who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and a dedication to the art of piano playing. Despite her many accomplishments, Constance remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice for hours each day, always striving to improve her technique and musicality.
