Con Anima Chamber Choir is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their stunning performances for over two decades. The choir was founded in 1999 by conductor and artistic director, Dr. Anne Lyman, who had a vision of creating a choir that would bring together talented singers from the community to perform a diverse range of choral music. The choir's name, Con Anima, is derived from the Italian phrase "with soul," which reflects the passion and dedication that the choir brings to every performance. From its humble beginnings, the choir has grown to become one of the most respected and acclaimed choral ensembles in the Pacific Northwest. Con Anima Chamber Choir has a diverse repertoire that spans from the Renaissance to contemporary music, including works by Bach, Mozart, Brahms, and many other composers. The choir's performances are known for their impeccable musicianship, beautiful harmonies, and emotional depth. Over the years, Con Anima Chamber Choir has performed at numerous prestigious venues and events, including the Northwest Choral Festival, the Seattle Symphony's Holiday Pops concert, and the Seattle Men's Chorus' annual holiday concert. The choir has also collaborated with other renowned ensembles, such as the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Pro Musica, and the Seattle Girls' Choir. One of the highlights of Con Anima Chamber Choir's career was their performance at the 2010 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. The choir was one of only six choirs selected from across the country to perform at the conference, which is considered one of the most prestigious events in the choral music world. In addition to their performances, Con Anima Chamber Choir has also received numerous awards and accolades for their outstanding work. In 2005, the choir was awarded the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America, which recognizes outstanding choral ensembles that have made significant contributions to the choral art form. Con Anima Chamber Choir has also released several critically acclaimed recordings, including their debut album, "With Soul," which features a collection of sacred and secular choral music. The choir's second album, "A Time for Singing," features a selection of contemporary choral works by American composers.
