Filipe da Madre de Deus was a Portuguese composer of classical music who lived during the 16th century. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1572, and was the son of a musician. His father, Francisco da Madre de Deus, was a singer and composer who worked at the Royal Chapel in Lisbon. Filipe da Madre de Deus grew up in a musical environment and showed an early interest in music. He received his musical education at the Royal Chapel, where he studied under his father and other prominent musicians of the time. He was a talented singer and instrumentalist, and he quickly became known for his musical abilities.
