Sundberg's parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the Royal College of Music in Stockholm when he was just six years old. He studied piano, composition, and music theory under some of the most prominent teachers in Sweden. Sundberg's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became known for his exceptional musical abilities.
