Trio Ceresio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 in Lugano, Switzerland. The ensemble consists of three main members: violinist Federico Guglielmo, cellist Luigi Piovano, and pianist Daniele Roi. The trio has gained recognition for their unique sound and interpretation of classical music, and has performed in various prestigious venues around the world. Federico Guglielmo, the violinist of Trio Ceresio, was born in Rome, Italy in 1974. He began playing the violin at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" in 1997. Guglielmo has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Luigi Piovano, the cellist of Trio Ceresio, was born in Rome, Italy in 1963. He began playing the cello at the age of seven and went on to study at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Piovano has won several awards and competitions, including the International Cello Competition "Antonio Janigro" in 1989. He has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Daniele Roi, the pianist of Trio Ceresio, was born in Milan, Italy in 1979. He began playing the piano at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatory of Milan. Roi has won several awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition "Ferruccio Busoni" in 2002. He has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The three musicians first met in 2014 and decided to form Trio Ceresio the following year. The ensemble takes its name from Lake Ceresio, which is located near Lugano, Switzerland, where the trio is based. The trio's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert, as well as contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. Trio Ceresio has performed in various prestigious venues around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. The trio has also performed at several music festivals, including the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, and the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. In 2017, Trio Ceresio released their debut album, which features works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. The album received critical acclaim and was praised for the trio's unique sound and interpretation of the classical repertoire. The trio has also been featured on several radio and television programs, including BBC Radio 3 and RAI Radio 3. Trio Ceresio has received several awards and recognitions for their performances and recordings. In 2018, the trio was awarded the "Premio Abbiati" by the Italian Association of Music Critics for their contribution to the classical music scene. The trio was also nominated for the "Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance" in 2019 for their album featuring works by Beethoven.
