Kostecki's early musical education was at the State Music School in Warsaw, where he studied under the tutelage of Professor Tadeusz WroĊski. He continued his studies at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he received a degree in violin performance. During his time at the academy, Kostecki was awarded the prestigious Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. After completing his studies, Kostecki began his professional career as a violinist. He joined the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played for several years. He also performed as a soloist with various orchestras in Poland and abroad. Kostecki's talent and dedication to his craft quickly earned him a reputation as one of the most talented violinists of his generation. In 1972, Kostecki moved to the United States to further his career. He joined the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played for over 20 years. Kostecki's talent as a soloist was also recognized during his time with the New York Philharmonic.
