Orquesta Sinfónica Ciudad De Elche is a classical music ensemble based in the city of Elche, Spain. The orchestra was founded in 2002 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to bring it to the people of Elche and the surrounding areas. The founding members of the orchestra included musicians from all over Spain, as well as from other countries such as Italy, France, and Germany. They came together with the goal of creating a high-quality classical music ensemble that would perform a wide range of repertoire, from the Baroque era to contemporary works. Over the years, the orchestra has grown in size and reputation, attracting some of the most talented musicians from Spain and beyond. Today, the orchestra is made up of around 70 musicians, including string players, woodwind players, brass players, and percussionists. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was its performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in 2005. The performance was a great success, and it helped to establish the orchestra's reputation as one of the leading classical music ensembles in Spain. Since then, the orchestra has gone on to perform a wide range of repertoire, including works by Mozart, Haydn, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and many others. The orchestra has also collaborated with some of the leading soloists and conductors in the classical music world, including pianist Lang Lang, conductor Zubin Mehta, and violinist Maxim Vengerov. In addition to its regular concert series in Elche, the orchestra has also performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Spain and beyond. These include the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada. One of the most notable achievements of the orchestra was its performance at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. The orchestra was invited to represent Spain at the Expo, and it performed a series of concerts that were attended by thousands of people from all over the world. The orchestra's performance was widely praised for its energy, passion, and technical excellence. Over the years, the orchestra has also received numerous awards and accolades for its performances and recordings. These include the National Music Prize of Spain in 2012, the Gold Medal of the City of Elche in 2015, and the International Classical Music Award in 2017.
