Lettisches Sinfonieorchester, also known as the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, is a classical music ensemble based in Riga, Latvia. The orchestra was founded in 1926 and has since become one of the most prominent orchestras in the Baltic region. The founding of the Lettisches Sinfonieorchester can be traced back to the establishment of the Latvian State Conservatory in 1919. The conservatory was founded with the aim of promoting music education and performance in Latvia. In 1926, the conservatory established an orchestra, which was initially known as the Riga Conservatory Orchestra. The orchestra was later renamed the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in 1940.
